McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a Pizza Hut.

I've just seen the Dolmio advert, the one with the two old guys pretending to be kids so that they can get hold of the new kids microwave in the bag Dolmio pasta [I know that other ones have been around for a while]. Can you believe it? Pasta is one of the easiest things to cook, but soon there will be people who will laugh at you when you suggest boiling pasta. I see TV programmes sometimes where they have 'hopeless cooks' who don't even know how to boil an egg, and beans on toast is their culinary expertise.

I really enjoy cooking, and yes I do sometimes cheat and get takeaway or a microwave meal, but at least I know how to cook. Surely it's better when all the ingredients are fresh, and not rehydrated, powdered, mechanically recovered, factory sealed packets of 'nuitrition'?

End of rant.

Firstly, that song "McDonalds, McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and a Pizza Hut" was only mildly irritating to me until I saw Supersize Me. Now everytime I hear it I want to scratch my ears off. I defy anyone to watch the begining of that film and not want to cause physical harm to all those fat kids singing it. Never before have I felt so compelled to commit violence, or so loathed another human being. It's their faces, and their accents, and their...sorry, I'll leave that now.

Secondly - are Dolmio the ones who insist on using weird Italian sterotype puppets in their adverts? I don't like it. I agree wholeheartedly with your point. I "cooked" some porridge the other day in an actual saucepan on an actual hob, and was roundly mocked for my backwardness.
